Most multi-level apartment complexes have exterior stairs, walkways, decks or balconies. These exterior elevated elements (EEEs) are the subject of SB 721 which has been in place since January 2020 and requires owners to have these items inspected by January 1, 2025. Today we visit with David Tashroudian, Owner of Retrofit 1, a firm specializing in SB 721 inspections in Los Angeles. David discusses the requirements of SB 721 and what owners can and should do now to avoid the rush close to the deadline in order to gain compliance.
